Start The Year Right With A Pediatric Eye Exam
Back-to-school season is here! While parents focus on supplies, new clothes, and schedules, one critical item is often missing from the checklist: a comprehensive pediatric eye exam.
Vision and Learning Go Hand in Hand
Research shows that up to 80% of classroom learning is visual. Children who struggle to see clearly may have trouble reading, writing, concentrating, and participating in class. Many won’t complain — they simply don’t know what normal vision looks like.
Why School Screenings Aren’t Enough
School vision screenings are basic and can only detect the most obvious visual acuity problems. They cannot evaluate eye teaming, tracking, focusing, depth perception, or the health of the eye itself. Only a comprehensive exam by your eye doctor can do all of that.
Recommended Schedule
- First exam: 6–12 months of age
- Pre-school: age 3, then again before first grade
- School-age: annually, or as recommended by your eye doctor
